These are the steps you must go through in order to obtain your Nevada CCW Permit. Before you begin the process, please make certain you meet the minimum requirements .
Step 1:Complete the 8-hour certified basic firearms training class (this is the class our school offers).
Step 2:Target qualify with any gun. This can be done during class time at our school. If you do not own a gun yet, you have 12 months after completion of the class to target qualify. As of 10/1/2013 you only need to qualify with one gun. This permits you to carry any gun.
GUN QUALIFICATION CHANGE AS OF 10/1/2013 - You no longer have to qualify with a specific gun. You no longer have to qualify with both a semi-auto and revolver. You only have to qualify with one gun. You are then permitted to carry any gun you like. The caliber and type (semi-auto or revolver) are irrelevant!
Step 3:You must submit the CCW application to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department's CCW detail (located at 5880 Cameron Street) in person. They will take your picture and take your fingerprints. We will give you a completed and stamped application upon completing the course. As of May 2020 you may submit the application online to LVMPD and schedule an appt for fingerprinting/photos.
Step 4:Pay the application fee of $100.25 ($63.25 for renewals) over the counter at the LVMPD office. The application fee can be paid via cash, credit card, money order. No personal checks.
